Meet Ellen and Jessica - The face behind Bandicute
We are Ellen and Jessica, a mother/daughter team from Gunning, NSW, Australia. We live on our sheep farm with our husbands, Warwick and Chris, and Jess’ two daughters, Lilly and Hannah. We are total animal lovers with quite a menagerie here at the farm- dogs, a galah, sheep and three miniature cows.
Jessica has background in illustration, completing a degree in Natural History Illustration at the University of Newcastle, NSW. She has always had a great love for Australian wildlife and loves bringing designs to life on fabric whether it be through digital design, hand dyeing or hand stamping.
Ellen is a printmaker, specialising in collographs, and has been sewing her own clothes from a very young age. She is also a fabulous photographer and graphic designer and is the women behind the camera for most of the promotional material you will see on our site and social media.
We started Bandicute because we saw a unique opportunity to create some fun and sophisticated Australian inspired designs for kids, which seem so hard to come by. We also create hand-dyed clothing and scarves using the traditional Japanese tie dyeing technique called Shibori. We simply love the process and individual results! We are both perfectionists and take great pride in bringing you quality made products with personality.
