This is a pendant made from reclaimed driftwood and finished with a cream suede cord that has fisherman slider knots so that the length can be adjusted.
On a family walk at a local beach, I picked up a little piece of driftwood that had a nice shape and weight to it. I thought it had potential so I brought it home. With a little bit of sanding, I found that there was a lot of character and charm in the wood. This was one that I sat with for a while and would hand sand a bit more here and there. I went slowly with this because it had such a remarkable look inside and I wanted to bring all of that out but not take it too far!
The wood has been given a light wax polish to give it that bit of shine too. When I first put the hooks in the back I found that the weight of the pendant caused it to roll. So I had to re-position the hooks. The original hook holes were filled and sanded over. I thought the piece was simply too unique, pretty and unusual to let that detract from it but I do want to be honest about it. The photos do show this.
I've taken the photos to be quite bright so you can see the detail character and flaws in the wood. In natural light, it is a little more subtle.
This is a handmade pendant and, as such, is one of a kind and completely unique. You will not find another natural wood necklace out there exactly like this one.
Please review the pictures as these form a part of the description. The image shows the actual pendant necklace you will be receiving. If you would like more images, just convo me and I'll send them along. The colour may be slightly different to what you're seeing on your screen but I've taken the photos in daylight to give you the best representation possible.
